Instructions

Fastener location marker illustration (above):
Panel 1: Turn the head to loosen the plunger.
Panel 2: Insert the tool from the large end of the slot. Slide it upwards into the slot.
Panel 3: Rotate the head so that the tool tightens on the slot.
Panel 4: Remove the cap.
Panel 5: Press the markers against the wall while attached to the piece, then remove. The fastener location will be marked with red ink.
Keyhole hangers are attached to the back of a piece, then slide down over the head of a screw in the wall. For a video demo of this piece, follow the QR code on the kit’s lid.
First, engage a red wall marker with the top keyhole as shown above--having a second person will make this easier and safer. Remove the cap on the free end, then press to the wall where you want to mount the piece. This should leave a dot of red ink. Put a screw in the red spot. Use the plumb bob to make a mark 1 ¼ inches below it, making sure it’s in a straight vertical line by letting the washer dangle from thread wrapped around the red card. There are two green flags taped around the thread. Mark the bottom of the upper flag and the top of the lower one.
If mounting on wood, use the center punch anywhere you want to put a screw (slowly press tip to the dot until it triggers the spring), then tap the end of the screw in. Leave the head of the screw sticking out about 1/8th of an inch so the keyhole plate will be able to grab it. Screw heads should be completely straight, not at an angle.
If mounting on drywall, tap the ends of the double headed drywall screws into the wall and screw them in. No center punch or anchor is needed.
Once the screws are in, match the holes in the keyhole plates to the screws on the wall. Slide the piece down, trapping the heads of the screws in the slots. If you’re not sure if the keyholes have engaged with the screws, assume they haven’t. You should feel that happen. Don’t worry about scratching the back of the piece.

Wood screws: #8 x 3/4″ Deep Coarse Thread Phillips Modified Truss Head. Use these to mount the piece on a wooden wall. Drywall screws are more brittle and prone to breakage, especially in hardwoods.

Drywall Screws: 3/4“ Double headed bear claw screw. Very short distance between heads. Don’t drill a pilot hole or add an anchor. The anchor is built in.
