Instructions

Fastener location marker illustration (above):

Panel 1: Turn the head to loosen the plunger.

Panel 2: Insert the tool from the large end of the slot. Slide it upwards into the slot.

Panel 3: Rotate the head so that the tool tightens on the slot.

Panel 4: Remove the cap.

Panel 5: Press the piece against the wall, then remove. The fastener location will be marked with red ink.

Keyhole hangers attach to the back of a piece, then slide down over the head of a screw in the wall. For a video demo of this piece, see above.

First, take the roll of painter’s tape for delicate surfaces and tear off a short strip. Stick the ends together with the sticky side out. Attach it to the bottom of the miniature level. For Snakeskin and Lace, stick the other surface to the top of a metal rim.

Engage a red wall marker with each keyhole as shown above–having a second person will make this easier and safer. Remove the caps on the free end, then make sure the bubble in the level is in the center of the level. Keeping level, press to the wall where you want to mount the piece. If this piece itself is level, the screws may not look level. The hardware on the piece isn’t precisely placed.

If mounting on wood, Press the tip of the center punch against the red dot until the spring is triggered. This will leave a dent. Put a screw in each dent and tap it in lightly with a hammer or the end of the provided screwdriver. Leave the head of the screw sticking out about 1/4th of an inch so the keyhole plate will be able to grab it. Screws need to be completely straight, not at an angle.

If mounting on drywall, tap the end of the double headed drywall screw into the wall and screw it in. No center punch, anchor or pilot hole is needed.

Once the screws are in, match the holes in the keyhole plates to the screws on the wall. Slide the piece down, trapping the heads of the screws in the slots. If you’re not sure if the keyholes have engaged with the screws, assume they haven’t.

Wood screws:#8 x 3/4″ Deep Coarse Thread Phillips Modified Truss Head. Use these to mount the piece on a wooden wall. Drywall screws are more brittle and prone to breakage, especially in hardwoods.

Drywall Screws: 3/4“ Double headed bear claw screw. Very short distance between heads. Don’t drill a pilot hole or add an anchor. The anchor is built in.
